This is just a quick note for my readers interested in local search that the annual “bible” of local SEO is now available. David Mihm has published the fifth version of the Local Search Rankings Factors, which specifically looks at what it takes to get visibility in Google’s local search results. You can, and should, spend hours digesting all of the data and commentary. More than 40 local search marketers contributed this year. I should note that this is the first year that I’m not involved. David invited me, kind gent that he is, but I declined due to the fact that the vast majority of my consulting (90-95%) over the past 2-3 years has been related to social media, blogging, content development and so forth. It didn’t seem right for me to try to share opinions on local search rankings when I spend so little time and effort doing local SEO these days.
